SCASL Book Award Voting Celebration

Wow!  What a treat!  On Thursday, February 6, 2025, Kelly Miller Elementary children read books from the South Carolina Association of School Librarian's Picture Book and Children's Book Award nominee lists.  Attendees were treated with a floating Italian Ice while they voted.  A floating Italian Ice is the following: clear soda in the bottom of the cup, layered with Italian Ice (any flavor), followed by whipped cream and topped with a cherry.  This is served with a spoon and a straw, of course.

The SCASL (South Carolina Association of School Librarians) create a Children's Book Award and Picture Book Award nominee list each year.  Then children across the state of South Carolina read from the lists and decide which is their favorite book.

After all the voting and eating were finished, here are the results from Kelly Miller Elementary!

SCASL Picture Book Award Nominee Winner for Kelly Miller - Lou (Carzoo, Breanna).

SCASL Children's Book Award Nominee Winner for Kelly Miller - there was a 3-way tie!  Book titles were: The Girl in White (Currie, Lindsay), Manatee Summer (Griffith, Evan) and A Rover's Story (Warga, Jasmine).

Statewide results will be announced at the SCASL conference in March.
