Kelly Miller Elementary School Reaches BeanStack Minutes Read Goal!

Kelly Miller Elementary School embraced a reading culture in a major way this school year.  A school-wide reading goal was set.  The school would read 250,000 minutes.  If the goal was met, what would happen?  Mrs. Woodard, our school principal, agreed to pet a snake if the school met the goal.  Everyone got on board.  Kindergarten through 6th grade students read and tracked their minutes in BeanStack.  Child Development parents read to their babies and completed reading logs so that young scholars could be included as well.

We did it!  We reached the goal!  Ms. Woodard kept her word and petted a snake!  Not only did she pet the snake, so did the mayor of Winnsboro, the Honorable Demitrius Chatman, our PE teacher - Coach Tobias, a school board member - the Honorable Joe Seibles, our school custodian - Mr. Woodard, our cafeteria staff and our superintendent of schools - Mr. Alvin Pressley!  School board chair, the Honorable Henry Miller, was also in attendance for this amazing event.

Everybody took pictures or shot video.  We've tried to include as many as we could.  Click on the links below to enjoy.
