Parent’s Right to Know

As the parent of a student at Kelly Miller Elementary School, you are entitled to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers and instructional assistants who work with your child. Federal law gives you the right to request the following information about your child’s teachers, and the District is required to provide this information in a timely manner:

• Whether the teacher is certified to teach the subjects and/or grade levels they are assigned.
   
• Whether the teacher’s certification is provisional, a waiver, or a substandard certificate.
   
• The teacher’s academic major, any graduate degrees earned, and the specific certification areas held.
